About

The Writivism Festival is organised by the Centre for African Cultural Excellence (CACEAfrica).

It is part of Writivism, the Kampala-based initiative that identifies, mentors and promotes emerging African writers. The festival is Uganda’s leading literary event and it celebrates various arts around an annual theme. Other CACEAfrica initiatives include the Arts Managers and Literary Activists (AMLA) Network, the Ubuntu Reading Group, among others.

CACEAfrica was founded in 2012 by Bwesigye Bwa Mwesigire, Kyomuhendo A Ateenyi and Naseemah Mohamed. For an elaborate history of the Writivism Literary Initiative and the database of over 500 African emerging and established writers, editors, readers, philanthropists, publishers, journalists, academics, etc that have participated in its activities, browse the Legacy website.
